7th Catalysts Webinar

Women in Catalysts

International Women Day is a day of celebration of the achievements of women in all fields. We want to celebrate Women Day by highlighting women-led research. Many groups are nowadays led by women and many goals have been achieved in catalysis. To this purpose two colleagues leaders in their fields will tell us about their last findings in two particular subjects: Dr. Sonia Carabineiro will show the last finding in gold catalysis, while Dr. Francesca Deganello will talk about the design of waste-derived inorganic catalysts by means of solution combustion synthesis.

Date: 8 March 2021

Time: 11:00 am CET

Webinar ID: 827 3955 4334

Webinar Content

On 8 March 2021, International Women’s Day, Dr. Leonarda Francesca Liotta and Dr. Valeria La Parola, two leading women in Catalysts, decided to mark the day by holding a webinar to celebrate the achievements of women in all fields, but specifically in Catalysts.

Entitled “Women in Catalysis”, the webinar was chaired by Dr. Liotta and Dr. La Parola themselves. Both scientists work at the Institute of Nanostructured Materials in the Palermo Research Division of the CNR in Italy.

The first speaker to quick off this special International Women’s Day webinar was Dr. Sónia Carabineiro, from NOVA University of Lisbon in Portugal. Her presentation was to do about catalysis by gold.

Dr. Francesca Deganello from the Institute of Nanostructured Materials in the Palermo Research Division of the CNR in Italy was the second speaker. Her presentation was entitled “Design of Waste-Derived Inorganic Catalysts by Solution Combustion Synthesis”.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A Session and Discussion moderated by the Chairs. The webinar was offered via Zoom and required registration to attend. The full recording can be found here on Sciforum website.
